Acceptance of terms
By downloading, installing, or using Sift ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App. The App is developed by Shagun Srivastava ("we," "us," or "our").
Description of the service
Sift is a mobile application that helps users explore restaurant menus by scanning them via camera OCR or searching known menu datasets. The App estimates nutrition information, detects potential allergens heuristically, and ranks dishes based on user-configured dietary preferences. Sift is an informational tool — it does not provide medical, nutritional, or allergy advice.
Informational use only
All information provided by Sift — including calorie estimates, macro breakdowns, ingredient guesses, and allergen flags — is provided for informational purposes only. This information is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. You should not rely solely on Sift for dietary decisions that affect your health.
If you have food allergies, intolerances, or medical dietary requirements, always verify ingredients and preparation details directly with the restaurant.
No guarantees of accuracy
Sift uses heuristic models and OCR technology to estimate nutrition and detect allergens. These estimates may be incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated. Menus, recipes, and preparation methods change without notice. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any information provided by the App.

User responsibilities
- You are responsible for verifying any dietary or allergen information with the restaurant before ordering.
- You acknowledge that Sift's output is estimated and may contain errors.
- You agree not to use the App for any purpose that could endanger your health or safety without independent verification.
- You agree not to reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the App.
Intellectual property
All content, design, code, and data in Sift are owned by Shagun Srivastava or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the App or its content without prior written permission.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Shagun Srivastava shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App. This includes, without limitation, damages arising from reliance on nutrition estimates, allergen flags, or any other information provided by the App.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Termination
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App at any time without notice. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it from your device.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in the courts of the State of California.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
